Rocks And the Rock Cycle
In this section of the curriculum, students learn about the processes that form and shape the rocks that make up our landscapes. They begin with some fundamental chemistry to learn what a mineral is. They then build upon this understanding to distinguish between the different types of rocks and minerals that exist. Understanding how these different rocks form and change requires learning about the rock cycle which explains what happens to rocks both above and below the Earth's surface.
