Plate Tectonics: Evidence |
|
In this component of the curriculum, students are exposed to evidence for plate tectonics: fossils and paleo-environments, the location of mountains, volcanoes, and earthquakes, observations of continental drift and sea-floor spreading. This component focuses on the observations, leaving the theory of plate tectonics and the question of driving forces to a later component. Through this structure, students can be encouraged to formulate their own hypotheses to explain these diverse phenomena.
