Mountains
Mountain-building, generally a more gradual process than earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, is another frequent effect of plate motion. In this part of the curriculum, students will look at how mountains form and how they acquire their shapes through folding and faulting processes. In order to be able to study mountain shapes and to represent them to others, students will first practice interpreting and creating topographic maps.
